The complete guide to manifestation

How to manifest through goal setting, doing the inner work and taking inspired action

When you think of manifestation, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Is it resistance, curiosity or something else?

Many people think manifestation is just about trying to be positive all the time. They believe that by simply imagining what they want, it will effortlessly manifest into existence. Alternatively, some people just don’t believe it’s possible.

The truth is far more empowering.

Manifestation is actually an intentional process that involves stating what you want, putting it out into the world, believing you can have it, and most importantly, taking inspired action to bring it into your life.

Goal setting and manifestation go hand in hand. It's not usually enough to visualise your dream life then sit back and wait for the universe to bring it to you. Instead, it requires a strategic approach that combines intention and beliefs with practical steps toward your goals.

So let’s dig into the process of manifestation and goal setting to uncover the myths that surround it and show you how you can take the practical steps to manifest your dream life.

I’m going to explore why manifestation involves more than just what you’re thinking about and how setting clear goals and taking inspired action provides a practical way to start your manifestation journey.

So, what is manifestation?

Manifestation is essentially the process of bringing something you want into your life or physical reality through thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The theory is that you can attract anything into your life that you desire through the process of manifestation.

The law of attraction is the universal law that like attracts like. We are like magnets for whatever frequency we are vibrating at. The energy and vibrations we give out through our thoughts, feelings, and actions attract similar energies from the universe. The more you focus your attention on something, the more of it you’ll have in your life. This is why it’s so important to be intentional with what you are focusing on. It’s also the reason why if you don’t really believe you can have something, or align your energy with that thing, it’s probably not going to happen.

Manifestation through goal setting is a powerful process, combining feminine and masculine energy together to create amazing results. The feminine aspect involves learning to trust, surrender, being open to receive and truly believing that you deserve what you want. It’s all about connecting to yourself and looking after yourself. The masculine involves taking inspired action, building consistent habits, showing up and strategically planning how you’re going to achieve those goals. It’s all about being structured. When you use a combination of these energies for your manifestation process, magic can happen.

Manifestation myth

People are often made to believe that just by trying to think positively, they can manifest all of their desires. Thoughts definitely play an important part when it comes to manifestation, but there’s so much more to it than that. This myth makes people believe that any negative or unwanted thoughts will completely ruin the manifestation process and bring you back to square one. This is not true.

This myth can be dangerous when it comes to people who struggle with their mental health or mental illness. It can make people start to believe that they are causing their own mental health issues and that there’s something wrong with them if they can’t ‘just think positively’, which of course can be really damaging.

Yes, it may have an impact on what you’re trying to manifest if you’re constantly living in a negative mindset without actually making any attempt to change that. However, there’s a lot more to manifestation than just ‘changing your thoughts’. There’s some subconscious work that can be done here to help you think more positively and change old, unwanted beliefs.

Subconscious beliefs play a role in shaping our reality. While asking the universe for what you desire, setting clear goals and taking action are important steps, they are incomplete without addressing your underlying beliefs. If you have doubts or feelings of unworthiness, they can create resistance to the manifestation process. However, if you struggle with mental health, or the way you think, it doesn’t mean you can’t manifest. You also need to take inspired action towards these goals. Everyone can manifest! Let’s take a look at how.

The manifestation process: how to manifest

There are many ways to manifest. I’m going to go through the process I use that includes setting goals and taking action. The key is to enjoy the process and see how good you can make yourself feel through taking control of your life.

  1. Start by getting to know what you REALLY want and be intentional about it. Take some time to visualise your ideal future. You could make this into a lovely ritual for yourself where you set aside some time and create space for yourself to meditate, breathe, be still and really connect into what it is that you want for your life in the long-term. Imagine all of the details and how it will feel. Write it all down, draw pictures or create a vision board - have some fun with it!

  2. Do the inner work by addressing your subconscious limiting beliefs. What is really holding you back? Work to release the things that are stopping you. Practice gratitude and self-care. Be compassionate towards yourself and make time for yourself to rest and be present. Do things that make you feel good, whilst also addressing the unwanted beliefs, habits, behaviours and patterns that are keeping you stuck. In my 3 month 1:1 life coaching programme, this is exactly what I support clients with.

  3. Now it’s time to set your goals based on your long-term vision. You’re going to work backwards from this point. Think ahead to 12 months from now.
Where do you need to be in 12 months in order to be making progress towards that long-term vision? Write down some goals for the next 12 months. Then break it down into smaller steps. What are the actions you need to take in the next 3 months to get you to that place in one year? You can then use this to plan your weeks and months, knowing you’re making intentional progress towards your goals.

  4. Keep checking in with yourself (your vision, goals, beliefs, habits and behaviours) regularly. It’s useful to know if you still want those things for yourself. Check in with your progress to celebrate your wins and how far you’ve come! Continue doing the inner work, whilst taking the inspired actions you set out in your goals.

Now you know what you want, it’s out there in the universe, you know what inspired action you’re going to take and you truly believe you deserve it. All you need to do now is trust that everything will happen as it’s meant to in the right way for you!

Try to detach from outcomes at this point and just enjoy the journey. If you can enjoy every part of the process and the growth you’ll experience, you’ll become a vibrational match for your manifestations. I can guarantee if you’re going through this process whilst doing inner work and doing things that feel good, you will start to notice more joy in your life and things will just start to flow for you.

In summary, the process of manifestation and goal setting can be extremely empowering and tranformational. You now know that it’s not just about changing all of your thoughts into positive ones, but about the process as a whole. When manifesting, it’s important that the way you feel is in alignment with your goals. You must believe that you can have these things whilst also taking action towards them!

Visualise what you really want from your life. Work on yourself and your inner beliefs, habits and behaviours. Set goals so that you can take inspired action towards them, and keep checking in with yourself!

It’s normal to feel some resistance around manifestation and goals. What if you don’t achieve them? What if you DO? This is why it’s so powerful to do the inner work.

It’s okay if you don’t achieve them. What really matters is taking inspired action towards the things you want and the progress you are making, however big or small that is. This means that you’re still living in alignment with your values.

You have the power to manifest the life you truly desire. Trust that the universe is working with you, and as you enjoy the journey, you'll align with what you want. Embrace the growth and joy that comes with the process, and you'll find yourself becoming a magnet for your dream life.
